This is an interactive game (without sound) where students click on the correct coconut for the long e or /oo/ spellings or for the properly related picture.
This relates to “Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom” by Bill Martin Jr., but the story is not included; you can find it at many libraries and book stores. I used this game after I read the book aloud and taught the three spelling patterns: long e spelled ea, long e spelled ee, and the /oo/ sound spelled oo. The game was used for practice and reinforcement. Depending on the ability of the individual student, the student either later read the text or listened for and/or found the words with the spelling patterns or sounds. It worked great!
What's included:
*21 questions
-> 9 picture-based questions
-> 12 text-based questions
*Opportunities to try again and again with the following pages: "Oops! Wrong coconut! Try again." page and "You picked the right coconut!"
* No sounds to distract any students and provide better focus for everyone.
This is a terrific game to reinforce and practice finding words with the ee and ea spellings for long e and the oo spelling for /oo/ as well as listening for the sounds. Superb for literacy centers, small group, partner, & individual work.
